I used to be an absolute hound when it came to insurance deals, but I've been happy the last couple of years with State Farm. I have a similar driving record to yours(G1-98, G2-2000, G-2004) and I managed to get a 6 star rating from them back in 2004. I've tried to beat their rates, but they tend to be very competitive. Plus I'm kinda stuck with them since I had a not at fault accident in 2004 and a minor speeding ticket in 2005, so I always get screwed on quotes from competitors. I've found with State Farm that I could practically be in one of their commercials, as I've found their service when I had an accident top shelf and I know my rep, so I can go in and talk about my rates anytime I want. It's always good to go in there and grind him a bit on my rates to see if I'm eligible for any new discounts.

Sorry, I don't of know of an insurer who allows for anything but a G2. A G1 is not considered a valid licence for insurance purposes and further, you must upgrade to a full G in order to get more than 4 star rates.

"Like most car insurance subscribers, I don’t think much about the ins-and-outs of the system or really care to do much more than pay the monthly fee and forget about it."

I think understanding your car insurance agreement can help alot in the future for people as some coverage plans can be completely shocking!

You might think you have some type of coverage only to find out you are not covered.

some of those insurance dosiers and policies are 15-20 pages long, and some are even 50 pages or more!
Most people don't take the time to go through everything to make sure they actually understand it...if you're wealthy enough, or have a car costly enough, you might want to call up an attorney to get the complete understanding of everything...

Nearly every state has a requirement for each car to be insured, and generally also each driver. If there is an accident done by a driver, and only one is insured, who pays? The car owner or the driver? How are the rules enforced? The one thing we know is that they are NOT universal through out the country. Some states required an uninsured motorists. Another thing we know is that costs are far from uniform. How much insurance should you have? Do you buy it on line or through a local agent? Which ever, and we are not opposed to shopping, each person who drives owes it to not only themself but society to have insurance. Then you owe it to yourself to obtain it from an ethical agent who truly knows YOUR situation and laws. You in turn should know what the company "pay" history is; you need to know if you have an accident the effect this will have on your rates. How about a moving viloation on your drivers license. The blog here cover so many of these points, but as a previously licensed insurance agent, I've seen so many sad cases, and I just want to add my word and comments to urge each reader to become responsibly insurred. Thanks

Stay away from RBC. They really stuck it to me on a rear ender where they deemed me at fault because I didnt have collision. I was the one rear ended. They would have to pay for my car since I was struck from behind but they deemed me at fault so they dont have to pay a penny. I now must sue and take 2 years of my time to result in what they should just pay as the judge is going to overturn the whole thing. However they are happy to waste my time and money as well as the taxpayers for the court process since they know most people will give up. When I got quotes to get my car fixed not one shop had anything good to say about RBC. In fact a few said they wouldnt fix my car if RBC was going to be involved.
